TL;DR: Circle and SAP-backed Tereina intend to add stablecoin payment options to familiar enterprise finance workflows.
The strongest enterprise blockchain products may eventually be the ones customers barely notice. Circle’s October 7 announcement with Tereina, an SAP-backed payments company, takes that approach by working to embed USDC and EURC into business software.
The partners plan to begin with SAP Cloud ERP, allowing companies to use stablecoins inside established payment and finance workflows. An accountant would not necessarily need a separate exchange account or an unfamiliar interface to initiate a payment. The digital asset would serve as an underlying rail.
This matters because a corporate payment is surrounded by approvals, reconciliations, supplier records and audit obligations. Changing the transfer mechanism without connecting those processes would leave much of the cost and complexity untouched.
The announcement describes a planned integration, not universal adoption across SAP customers. Commercial success will depend on local payment coverage, fees, compliance and how transactions are reflected in accounting systems. But the strategy is a clear example of blockchain being sold less as a standalone destination and more as one component of conventional software that businesses already trust.
